About Our Art…by Lois Jett

[ 0 ] November 10, 2010 |

Our featured artist for November 1 – December 30, lobby display is Lois Jett, a native of Normal Illinois.   Lois enjoys participating in the creative experience found in experimenting with various crafts and art forms.  She holds degrees from the University of Illinois and Southern Illinois University.  Since retirement she has used her sewing and knitting skills to make American Girl Doll clothing, most of which have been sent to the Mennonite Relief sale and other non-profit fund-raising events.  She also has time to expand her interest in arts; five year’s ago she began watercolor painting through offering in the Normal Senior Program and is currently taking drawing classes at Heartland Community College.

The artwork Lois brought in for display represents a variety of subjects and media as she is still in the process of developing a personal style.  She paints and draws mostly for her own enjoyment and hopes that you enjoy viewing her work! This weekend downtown Bloomington held their 10th Annual Around The Corner Art Walk.  I took my oldest daughter with me and we had a really great time looking at local artists work.   We walked thru Eaton Gallery, Wings Studio, the Monroe Building Studios, & Main Gallery 404 Inc.  I hope some of these artists work make it into our lobby soon!
