Spring! It’s Finally Arrived!

[ 0 ] April 13, 2011 |

As I was dragging out my mop, bucket and cleaning supplies the other day it hit me. I spend hours spring cleaning the house every year but how often do I take a true look at my finances?  This is a great time to go through all those drawers where you throw your paperwork to look at later! How about those electric bills, receipts from purchases, atm deposit slips, etc. If all these have been settled through your bank account and merchants, get rid of them! We can help you with the process, too! The IAACU has partnered with the Country Financial Security Team to offer another free shred day. Bring us your confidential material on Thursday, April 21st between 1-3pm and watch it shred! Keep in mind, you do need to keep bank statements for a minimum of 7 years.

Spring is also a good time to look at unneeded costs. Do you really need a cell phone that has unlimited internet access? Do you need that upgrade on your cable bill to receive all those extra channels? How about lawn service? Could you do without it? All these things can certainly make your monthly expenses skyrocket.

If, however, you find a stack of those important papers that you just don’t know what to do with here’s a perfect solution. Open a safe deposit box at your credit union! The monthly charge is minimal and they typically have different sizes to choose from to fit your needs. Peace of mind will come with knowing your papers are safe and  secure.

So let’s get going on spring cleaning your finances. You’ll have peace of mind to enjoy the summer months ahead!
