Securing Your Financial Statements

[ 0 ] June 12, 2012 |

Theft of paper mail is among the three most common ways identity thieves gain access to private information.

By opening your mailbox or looking in your recycling bin, thieves can easily steal checks, bank statements, and other documents containing your personal financial information.

Don’t set yourself up for theft! Sign up for paperless statements or bills whenever possible.  Many credit card companies, public utilities and other businesses allow you to opt out of receiving paper statements, reducing the opportunity for thieves to steal your information.

There is also the opportunity to save trees and to have less documents sitting around your home or office!

You can take the first steps to protect your identity by signing up to receive your IAA Credit Union statements electronically.  Our e-statements contain all the same information as traditional paper statements!  IAACU hosts two shred days each year, so watch for those dates to have all your financially sensitive papers destroyed!

Signing up for e-statements is easy! Call 800.676.2541 to sign up.  Already an online banking user?  Log-on to your Home Banking account and click the e-statement tab!
