What Could Be Easier Than Online Bill Pay???

[ 0 ] August 7, 2012 |

I don’t know if any of you have tried online bill pay but I am a huge fan! Who doesn’t want to write fewer checks? Online bill pay so easy – and its available 24/7! If I can get it set up in no time, anyone can!

The first step is to set up your group of vendors. Once you have your credit card/utility company statement in hand, enter the vendor name and your account number associated with the vendor. I added the phone numbers, too, as it’s a great reference place if you need to contact them later on! There is also an area for the addresses for each of the companies – having this information could come in handy if you ever need to file a dispute of a charge.

The next step is paying a bill! Select your payee from the group in the dropdown menu and enter your dollar amount.  You may choose the date to send your payment or it will automatically send it for you. The vendor should receive the payment in 2-3 working days. I then mark my bill paid and put it back in my bill file. Next month I check my statement to make sure the correct amount was received and then I shred the old bill. An email message will be sent to you notifying you of bill pay activity.

Other options include:

  • You may modify a payment any time before it is processed so you’re always in complete control of your money
  • Set up alerts when your bills are due
  • Schedule automatic payments for all your recurring bills – everything from car loans to home mortgages.
