Featuring Artwork By Tracy Montoya

Tracy received his undergraduate from Illinois State University and graduate studies from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York.  Currently he resides in Bloomington, and works at The Baby Fold in Normal as a Therapeutic Art Specialist.

He grew up knowing that he loved to draw as far back as he could remember to about the age of 3 or 4 years old.  Tracy has been fascinated with drawing things exactly as he sees them.  He aspired to be an artist and knew that using what he was familiar with was a good place to use as resource for subject matter in his artwork.   He explores his everyday world by capturing on camera and then comes back to them on the computer and digitally enhances them, edits them, combines them until getting something where he cannot possibly add anything else to it.  He then works directly from these photographs to create artwork.

As for the current body of series of artwork, he is developing a strong series of figurative work and also a separate series of landscapes and still life.   Tracy’s artwork is primarily drawing and has recently begun to add watercolor and acrylic painting to his portfolio.   He always draws using either: pencil, charcoal, or pastel or he may use a combination from all three materials.   As far as themes he takes from everyday life as a father, husband, and working at The Baby Fold with junior and senior high school students using art as a therapeutic intervention to help promote success and pride in their lives.   Tracy’s work will be at the credit union September thru October 31.
