About Our Art….By Michele Peterson

The underlying theme in Michele Peterson’s artwork is beauty, sensuality, feminine sensibility, and a yearning for the higher.  In her latest series, she paints vessels (bowls, cups, etc.)…empty containers waiting to be filled.  Other images come into play: patterns, birds, patches of sky & landscape.  At first glance, the paintings appear as a myriad of thoughts passing through one’s head.  However, when taken as a whole, the imagery weaves together to form a connecting thread that points to another vision, another path.

Michele Peterson is Adjunct Professor of Arts & Humanities at Heartland Community College.  Her artwork is in public & private collections in Bloomington/Normal, Chicago, & Queensland, Australia.  She is currently working on a book, “Hidden Agendas: Symbolism in Italian & Northern Renaissance Art”.
