Valentine Celebrations!

[ 2 ] February 6, 2013 |

Candy hearts, cookies, flowers…how do you celebrate Valentine’s Day?  Whether you’re single, engaged, married, have kids, or don’t have kids we can all celebrate Valentine’s Day in on our way.

I celebrate Valentine’s Day with my three girls.  I get up extra early to make heart shaped pancakes with some candy treats for breakfast.   Then I make cards for each one of them and set them out on the table for them!  We spend the rest of the morning together eating and making cards for their friends at school.

February is a busy month for Lindsay and me.  We have my birthday, her birthday, our anniversary, and Valentine’s Day to celebrate in just less than three weeks.  I know Lindsay appreciates the thought behind my actions so I am going to take her to the restaurant in Iowa City where we spent our first Valentine’s Day as I think she will appreciate that I remember where we ate.

Valentine’s Day always meant alot to me as a child,(my mother’s maiden name was Valentine) so she would always be the room mother at our partys in grade school on valentine’s day. Memories to cheerish.

On Valentine’s Day, I try and make it very memorable to my kids. They wake up with hearts all over their rooms that say words that describe them and how I feel about them, “kind heart”, “very funny”, “good listener”, etc. They get breakfast with heart shaped pancakes, strawberries, etc. Lunch of their choice and dinner we sit and talk about how grateful we are and they each get to describe in detail how they know how much they are loved. Memories we will all remember forever!
