About Our Art…by Carol Boerckel

[ 0 ] March 4, 2014 |

At the heart of my work is a desire to explore truth, beauty, and goodness. My concepts originate from playful use of transparent colors worked wet on wet with bold color on big paper. During the past several years, my art has reflected many of the places I have lived or visited—Alaska, Israel, Bolivia, Jamaica, the Mississippi Valley, and now Central Illinois.

I think of works of art as evidence of human nature, made in the image of a creative, intelligent, and present God.  To be an artist is to be an observer of the mystery of God’s intelligence and design.  Art is also a bridge to people.  It is a language used to connect to the treasure that people are.  It is a joy when my art expresses the nature of God and also inspires the people who view it.  When that happens, art is supremely spiritual.

In this particular exhibition, I am presenting several works that feature mountains.  I hope that all my paintings bring you joy as you look at them.
